Predicting Genetic Predisposition

12 Hours of DC continuing education
Saturday: 8am-5pm ET
Sunday:  8am-12pm ET
Instructor: Dr. Stuart White (sponsored by Standard Process)

Dr. White will provide a comprehensive introduction to genetic sequencing and technology for mapping the genome addressing historical development, ethical concerns, methodology and defining variation in accuracy.  He will review a presentation of sample studies from different labs that map single nucleotide protein sequences (SNPS) to present the current market availability to clinical application and develop a basis of understanding the reports and interpretation so that attendees are able to interpret the data reported and assign clinical relevance.  The seminar offers a presentation of epi-genetics concepts and examples of how environmental events, both toxic and nutritional, can influence and activate or suppress genetic expression, creating a cellular pathway model to validate nutritional intervention to support genetic variation and predispositions.

This seminar will seek to elaborate upon association between microscopic genetic and enzyme pathway events and macroscopic visible physical signs, thus making connection between upstream cellular function and downstream signs and symptoms of health, superficially referencing some known disease expressions proven to be influenced by genetic predisposition.
