Fall Celebrations Health and Safety Tips

Halloween and Fall Celebrations can be great fun for children and wonderful opportunities for adults to gather for relaxing social gatherings.  Whether it’s trick-or-treat, truck-or-treat, a Fall Festival or Harvest celebration, they all seem to have a few things in common: fun parties and delicious treats.  This year, you can take steps to help your cheerful activities stay in line with a healthy lifestyle.

Are you hosting a gathering at your home or office?  Planning a booth at a community or school festival?  Offer healthy snacks such as fruit and vegetables.  There are a plethora of ideas on Pinterest to dress up your healthy snacks in thematic fashion.  Have games that require movement and activity to burn off a few extra calories.

Are you giving out treats for trick-or-treaters?  There are many options other than candy!  Hand out stickers, pencils, fun erasers, craft items, notepads, balloons, stress balls, small bottles of bubbles, whistles or other novelty toys are just a few options.  If you want to hand out food items, try small containers of fruit or veggies such as raisins or carrot/celery snack packs.  Be creative and think outside the box and have fun!
