There’s at Least One Thing Americans Are Satisfied With – Chiropractic Works!

12-28-12-22-twitterHow often are the overwhelming majority of Americans satisfied with anything these days?

Not that often judging by news headlines.

So it’s worth noting that a study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that a whopping 83 percent of households surveyed were either “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with chiropractic care.  Among the factors putting chiropractors over the top: displaying “concern about a patient’s overall health, and extent to which (they) explain the condition and treatment.”

In fact, even as the number of Americans attracted to chiropractic care for its drug-free, hands-on, and non-invasive approach to treating neuro-musculoskeletal conditions to grow – virtually tripling in the past two decades – evidence of patient satisfaction continues to pour in:

  • Nine out of 10 patients in a recent BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders study on upper cervical chiropractic care for neck pain, headaches, mid-back, and low back pain reported a “high level” of patient satisfaction.
  • In a head-to-head matchup against traditional medical providers, writers in the prestigious American Journal of Public Health concluded that “much of the satisfaction gap” they found – with doctors of chiropractic coming out on top in patient’s opinions – appeared to come down to “differences in the amount of advice and explanation” provided by each.

“Utilization of chiropractic care continues to increase largely because of its documented effectiveness, high patient satisfaction, and lower costs,” says Sherry McAllister, DC, executive vice-president of the not-for-profit Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, noting that doctors of chiropractic have a minimum seven years of higher education.
